DIY POTATO STAMP
I'm sure you've all seen this one before, via Pinterest, but today I was just itching to try it!! The not-too-easy-to-be-cute, do-it-yourself, potato stamping! Before we moved to Logan, I found this old canvas lying around that I'd never used yet. I said to myself that I would do something with it after we got settled in here. First I painted a fresh coat of white gesso on my canvas and waited for that to dry. Then, I carved a potato into the shape I wanted, and stamped my heart out using black acrylic paint (I did draw a few straight lines to make sure I didn't go completely crooked). This was very fun and SO SUPER EASY. Great idea for anyone wanting to incorporate simple, but bold artwork into their space. Try it!

PARK CITY
We celebrated our 1st anniversary by going to Park City for two days and one night. It was a perfect get-away for us. Park City is so beautiful! I take it for granted and I always forget about the cool things there are to do and see. We enjoyed visiting the Olympic Park, sightseeing, "Maleficent," shopping at the outlets, eating at Bandit's, and riding the slide and coaster down the mountain. Happy 1st Anniversary to my Mr. Flitton! He sure knows how to make me laugh and I have grown to love him even more. "Won't stop 'till it's over, won't stop to surrender."
After the movie, we decided last minute to drive into historic Park City just to get a feel for the city. We were hoping to see where the slide and coaster were located so it would be easier to get there the next day. It was kind of stressful because we didn't know how to navigate through the city and it was crowded and the sun was going down....ugh. Finally, we found somewhere to park so we got out and started down Main Street. To me, Park City is like a mix between San Francisco and Washington. SO perfect. I loved the little eclectic shops like this Indian Traders place (below).
After our fun times at the Olympic Park, we hurried to get into Park City to ride the slide and coaster! These two things were the highlight of the trip for us. It took a long time to get onto the ski lift and up the mountain.....just to ride back down again. The slide was a little scary for me- mostly because they said it's safer if you go faster. What?! So I was a little nervous. But then I saw a dad and his little boy fly past me, and I thought, if they can do it, I can do it gosh dangit!! I wish we had snapped more pictures and videos of this!
The coaster was our absolute favorite though. Such a thrill! We laughed so hard the way down. They take your picture at one point and we bought ours because it was so goofy looking! I'll have to scan and post it here soon!
The end of the day we spent looking around the city some more. I was excited to get to the Kimball Art Museum. Sadly, this wall of blue and red panels was honestly the best part of it. The rest of it was photography (not bashing, I'm just not a photographer). After getting over the fact that there were no paintings, I tried to just enjoy it. And I did. Mostly because there were random pictures all over the bathroom walls. Anyway, lesson learned- not all art museums are not created equal. No matter how much you love art.

PROJECTS
It's been a lot of fun (despite the growing stress) getting ready to move into our Logan apartment! We desperately needed some furniture because our last place was already furnished. So, I have been looking around at DI for some good, solid furniture that we can use. I get a kick out of buying things I love for really cheap....clothes, furniture, shoes, anything! The cheaper the better. And it's even more fun for me to re-finish said things!
At DI, I found a nightstand (that is similar to one we already have), and two kitchen chairs....each $10....that are in great condition. I painted the new nightstand white, to match the other one. I am content with the kitchen chair color although it's not preferred......but, I think they will match the wood already existing in the apartment. Oh, the things you do for design! (I did not change the wood, the lighting is just different in the pictures). Last night I attempted to re-cover the chairs with fabric I bought and chose. Of course, Holli and mom helped me! I now have respect for anyone who re-covers furniture by themselves...it is hard work I tell you! But the staple gun is fun :) The new fabric I used for the chairs will also be used for a new couch pillow, to tie the colors together. Okay now I'm sounding really snooty about making everything match. Whatever.

JOURNALING
Just wanted to share a little sketch I did in my journal. I love quotes and this is a great way for me to save and remember them. Plus its more fun to do little doodles and sketches instead of just writing them down. Most of my art is born in my journal or sketchbook! I just love doodling and drawing (and painting, and graphic design....oh don't get me started...). FYI- if you ever give me paper and a black sharpie....I might go crazy and/or you will never see me again :)
